It is with deep sadness we mourn the death of two of our volunter firefighters who put their lives on the line to protect our community. A fire at a dollar store took these men from us and now a community mourns.
Here in Elmira the fire and two deaths is the talk of the town. I was told this morning that the older fireman's daughter is soon to be married and that the younger firefighter's wife is expecting. There is never a good time for tragedy but this is awful. I hope that the community has some form of insurance or financial compensation to help for volunteer firefighters in order to assist remaining family in financial need.
